Synopsis: I was no less suspicious than the rest of you after receiving what appeared to be a phishing email from Adobe. Of course, I deleted it without following the embedded link. But then I went to Adobe.com and sure enough, the alert is serious.
The Customer Security Alert linked on the home page says in part:
Adobe’s security team recently discovered sophisticated attacks on our network, involving the illegal access of customer information as well as source code for numerous Adobe products. We believe these attacks may be related. We are working diligently internally, as well as with external partners and law enforcement, to address the incident. Read the FAQ.
If it’s any relief, Adobe is offering customers in the U.S. a complimentary one-year membership in a credit card monitoring program. I’d suggest taking Adobe up on its offer.
